Xiaopengyou was a bi-monthly published as a continuation to Shanghai’s Xiaopengyou (founded in 1922) after the latter ceased publication. Colour-printing was used for its covers, two-colour printing on a few inner pages with the rest in black-and-white. Fairy tales from East and West, science topics, and folk songs dominated most of its coverage, along with reports on cities (though with little mention of Hong Kong). Article formats principally included comic strips, short essays and fiction. [1]
