Annotation
The Children's Paradise (ertong leyuan) was a colour bi-monthly sponsored by the United States Information Service. Its mission was helping its readers become ‘a good child’, ‘a good student’ and ‘a good citizen’. From 1954 onwards, it was printed by Yu Luen Offset Printing Factory. Its content included comic strips, songs and short essays on topics such as history, geographies, arts and crafts, as well as Chinese and foreign fables and inspirational stories. From the 1970s onwards, the famous Japanese manga Doraemon (ドラえもん, or Ding-dong, as both the manga and its main character has commonly been known in Hong Kong) was serialised in the magazine.
